After presenting about a year ago the edition Michael Scumacher, Audemars Piguet replica back to dedicate a Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph one of its ambassadors: it’s time for a timepiece built around LeBron James, perhaps the best basketball player of all times.
When you turn the original watch around, you see an octagonal solid stainless steel caseback secured with eight threaded screws. The brushed caseback is very simple and only has the following words engraved “AP Royal Oak Offshore Automatic”.
The problem with the replica is that on the back it has the signature of Arnold Schwarzenegger and it also says “Limited Edition Quartz”.
This timepiece, which has an 18 carat yellow gold case, features a blue dial with a “Grande Tapisserie” pattern of three dimensional squares. It displays the perpetual calendar subdials with month, hour, minute, and date indicators at three o’clock, the day at nine o’clock, the month and leap year at midday, and the moon phase at six o’clock. The weeks of the year are marked on the rotating internal bezel.
The combination of the precious metal with very light and gray-resistant alloy is also reflected in the quadrant “Méga Tapisserie” gray with applied Arabic numerals and hands in pink gold. Another elegant touch is not flashy given by the single diamond set in the button that activates the chronograph at 2 o’clock, and to reset it as the crown is black ceramic.
